Kan Wakan is Gueorgui Linev, producer, film composer, and songwriter, whose music dissolves the genre-breaking electronica of Massive Attack, Bonobo and Zero 7 into a bottomless sea of 20th-century minimalism, psychedelic soul, and ambient atmosphere. The LA-based Bulgarian-born musician was recently named in the LA Weekly as “one of the top 10 young songwriters in Los Angeles”. After touring extensively with Arctic Monkeys, and producing projects for the likes of Moses Sumney, it was time to incorporate a few collaborations of his own. The new triple LP, Phantasmagoria, features guest vocalists and the orchestral flourishes of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. The 3 recent singles from his forthcoming album–“Molasses”, “I Would” and “Still Feather”–have all garnered positive reviews, charting in the top 5 of Hype Machine, as well as receiving significant radio support from BBC Radio 1, 2, and 6 in the UK, and “Molasses” was named LA’s “KCRW Top Tune of the Day”.
