I’ve come to the harsh reality that Los Angelenos aren’t fond of the Wednesday night Silver Lake concert romp. Either that or they’re too busy ironically playing board games. Whatever it is takes precedent over the half-empty Savoir Adore show at The Echo last Wednesday night. The Brooklyn duo (they are in fact not a duo and it’s unclear why they are described as such) introduces an irresistibly melodic fantasy pop snack, charged with airy vocals and catchy guitar rifts. Despite having a generally shoegaze-ish feel, Savoir Adore amplifies its music in its live performances. The vocals are dreamier, the bass reverberates even more, and the melodies are more haunting. While relatively new to the scene, they should be mentioned in the same breath as electro pop stars CHVRCHES, The Naked and Famous, and MS MR.

The group donned all white that was a tad reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange, but to each his own artist style. Starting off their set with the ethereal track “Beating Hearts,” Savoir Adore immediately captured the attention of the 30 people milling around the floor, drawing people closer to the stage. After quickly addressing a slew of technical difficulties as every member chimed in to either fix vocals or sound balance, they segued into “Regalia,” a fan favorite off their latest album Dreamers. Continuing with “Empire of Light” and “Bodies,” the duo showcased Deidre’s full and breathy singing voice which juxtaposed nicely against Paul’s. Ending with “Sea Of Gold” and their most popular single “Dreamers,” the crowd ignited (finally), giving Savoir Adore the dance party that they deserved. The sheer energy infused into the performance offered a seamless performance that left a great response from the crowd. If anything, the light attendance made it an intimate experience that we will all be able to regale about after they blowup.
